You know this is a Game Plan forum right?  wink  No matter, we hardly get any posts any way.

Whenever I work on a Bally/Stern, the FIRST thing I always replace is all the power supply connectors (which you did) AND all the connector pins in J3 on the SDU, AND J4 on the MPU.

The J1 you replaced on the MPU is for the displays. The other two connectors are for switch inputs. All it needs to boot is J4.

If all those connectors are good and the power supply is good, you have a bad MPU.

Here's specific info the 7th flash:

What's the width of the parts that go into the slots? I've got an older Stern ('81) that I can check to see if it is the same size. I know the backglasses are the same size so maybe other cabinet parts are, too.

First see if the coil fires by shorting the transistor that drives that pop bumper by shorting the transistor tab to ground.

If it fires, the coil and wiring is good and the transistor is probably bad. You can also test the transistor with a dmm.

The aluminum part is replacing a plastic piece. The wear will be the same or better. It is also located under the playfield and has no contact with the ball. Not that it matters. Hard steel ball versus aluminum.....hard steel ball wins.

Welcome to the site! Did you check the flipper EOS switches?

Give a call. They should be able to help out with some of that stuff.
8  General / Tech Corner / Re: Sharpshooter coil compatibility on: January 10, 2012, 12:15:09 PM
The SF-20-300 is a Williams coil and is a little stronger than the 21-50008B Gameplan coil.

300 vs 375 turns respectively. Lower turns = stronger.

You could try a GamePlan 21-5002B with a 400/1000 (second number is the hold strength)

Have you determined there isn't a physical obstruction? Does the mechanism move freely?

I've got an original one framed and hanging on my wall. It has started to flake a bit in the upper left hand corner. I could take the frame off and triple thick it if you were interested in buying it. It's been hanging for years so I have to reinspect for overall condition. LMK.

I would love to have a repro backglass for my Agents 777

Welcome to the site.

Are you saying smoke was coming out of the coin door when you opened it?

When replying, just hit the browse button and attach the pic. It must be smaller than 150k.

They only made 10 of those. How did you end up finding that one?
