Anybody out there? Please don't tell me Game Plan is dead. Are you Game Plan people posting in another forum? If so, where?

58 views and not one reply? Come on.

You guys can't all be posting in the pinball news group, rec.games.pinball? I could never get used to news groups and I like message forums better.

Ok I'll Bite...

I picked up Star Trip a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately it had bad acid (base?) damage that took out the reset section and a PROM and the PIA.  Fortunately I picked it up for $25

I am in the process of rebuilding the MPU-1 board, i'll keep you posted how it comes out.

By the way, the rest of the owners are on RGP...

I picked a vegas coctail in almost mint 10 condition at an auction for 40.00 a few days ago. sadly, the mpu is totally wiped out from acid damage. I am looking for a used one somewhere. anyone got one?  I also picked up a freddy/nightmare on elm st. project. NO BOARDS! it will cost me over 600.00 to get nos ones. I think I should have just bought a complete game! indeed a "NIGHTMARE"!

Are you sure that the MPU is totaly wiped out?  Marvin's guides has a step by step plan to remove the acid damage and rebuild the board.  Since there are not too many of these left, it should be worth a shot.  If you don't feel like trying, please don't throw the board away, I would like to try another rebuild.

hey goose. I took the board to the local amusement/game/board repair guy and he said it was totally gone. acid wiped out about 1/4 of the board.the traces where the battery was and some of the roms as well were heavily damaged.  if you can find me a good deal on a used one and will pay for shipping,I will send this one to you for free. the only boards I have come across cost 160-199. I was hoping for less. I'm not sure if this is my only problem with this game and I don't want to spend alot to get it running,as I have a freddy project that will cost at least 700 to get running. hopefully I will find a board soon and I can send you this one,but I think you will be totally wasting your time with it.   let me know........   kyle

Hmmmm.  Sounds like the board I have.  Roms: Gone, PIA: Gone, Reset circuitry: Gone,  Traces, Just a memory.  So far I am into it about $20, and the proms will probably be another $20.  It is a simple 2 layer board, and I can run wires to replace the traces that are gone, so it might take me a little while to fix it up, but Hey, It's a Hobby right?  My day job has me working with 14 layer boards and components that I have to use a microscope to see, so this is easy stuff.

Good luck on finding a MPU board.  I found that the going rate was $160 and up so since I am CHEAP I decided to rebuild the board.  I'll keep a look out for MPU's, and good luck finding one.  If you do I would like to try and rebuild that old one that you have.
