I have a MPU-1 in a cocktail that I am trying to get working. I have had it for years and has always been a little flaky. What it does right now is boots up to 5 flashes but then resets and starts all over again. Seems that this would be the test before the rom test? The reset circuit is definitely working and the problem doesn't appear to be watchdog related. Only reason I say not watchdog is the continuous flashing symptom on the pinball repair guide for GP says resets would be happening at roughly 5 times a second, reset only goes low for a brief flash after the 5th test flash and sometimes the board boots completely and works fine. There is no question that this board is functioning were it not for the reset. Like all GP boards this one has had battery damage but has been repaired. I'm not sure exactly what is causing the problem, considering replacing the roms as they are the original masked roms. Anybody have tips, would replacing the roms be on the right track?

Thanks in advance!
