FYI possible cause of Playfield wear

Hey all,
I have been working on a few gameplan projects that have been hanging around for a few years and one of them was a PF swap on a startrip. The original PF was worn and had bad checking. On the replacement PF I noticed the plastic  on the gobble hole was broken so I went to a lizard parts machine that I have and robbed the plastic out of it. The lizards pf was worn down to wood everywhere. Upon removing the ball rest in the star trip I noticed that the rests tips were smooth and almost polished. The ball rest I took from the lizard with the wiped PF was very sharp and pointed, Upon inspection of the ball I noticed little pits or grooves. I have six parts pfs with wiped artwork and upon checking all of them the ones with the wiped playfields had the sharp ball rests. You may want to check this and prevent damage to your machine. Just thought I pass this info along.

I change out my ball every 6 months. Like oil on a car- good or bad it will save you in the end.
Hey, is Bil Davis still around? I wanna get my CI over to have my field done.

It is good to change out the ball that often but a scratched ball can chew up a playfeild very fast. I just thought it was wierd that the kicker would scratch and nick the ball the way mine did. I checked all my machines and ended up rounding and smoothing all my kicker fingers.

Teflon sticky tape! Not the kind of tape for sealing pipe connections.
I used it in the food maufacturing field. 3M makes it. It's brown. It's VERY slippery, soft, and incredibly durable.
